WLD in Bournemouth10.46.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 18th Aug 2008 We are involved with two Fringe events in Bournemouth this year. On Saturday we are supporting the Amnesty Fringe meeting 'Trapped in Violence and Abuse - Is the UK Government failing to tackle violence against women?' This meeting will focus on the most vulnerable women in our society who are currently being failed by the system. Chris Huhne MP heads the list of speakers. On Monday we have our own WLD Fringe meeting 'Are We Nearly There Yet?' which will include a discussion of progress made since we were founded 20 years ago and will also focus on ways to get more women onto the Party Committees, where we are still severely under-represented. AND you are all invited to join us for a meal on Sunday evening. Click on the link for more details. Here is the list of Conference events with details as they are known so far: Saturday 13th September 2.30pm: Annual General Meeting of WLD in Old Harry's Bar, Highcliff Marriott Hotel. All members welcome. Saturday 13th September 8pm: Amnesty Fringe Meeting: 'Trapped in Violence and Abuse - Is the UK Government failing to tackle violence against women?' This meeting, supported by WLD, is in the Westcliff Brasserie, Marquee Two. It will focus on the most vulnerable women in our society who are currently being failed by the system. Speakers include Chris Huhne MP and Kate Allen, Director, Amnesty International UK. Sunday 14th September 6.30pm: WLD Meal in an Italian restaurant close to the Conference Centre. Prices vary but a pasta is in the range of £9.00. Please email claire.jackson77@virgin.net if you would like to join us. Sunday 14th September 8.30pm: Campaign for Gender Balance Auction, Highcliff Marriott Hotel, Purbeck Suite. Monday 15th September 6.15pm: WLD Fringe Meeting 'Are We Nearly There Yet?' in the Conference Centre. We will be looking at the progress we have made since we were formed 20 years ago, and will focus particularly on our campaign to get more women onto the Party committees. Advice and information will be available for interested women. Tuesday 16th September 12.00 midday: The Patsy Calton Award will be presented by Simon Hughes as part of the Party Awards session in the main hall.
